Outpatient Surgery
If you are going home, your PACU nurse will reunite you with your family. They will review follow-up instructions with the responsible adult who will take you home and care for you for the next 24 hours. Your loved one will receive a copy of follow-up instructions and any prescriptions at this time.
We realize that one of the hardest parts of outpatient surgery is getting from the hospital to your own bed. The recovery room staff will not discharge you until you are stable and have met the criteria to safely send you home. Although you have been deemed stable enough to go home, a responsible adult does need to remain with you in the event you have any adverse reactions or incidents as your anesthesia wears off.
We will call you within a few days after surgery to see how you are doing, to see if there are any questions you may need answered, and to evaluate your surgical experience.
Please feel free to call (480) 728-3361 with any quesitons.
Remember that we cannot allow you to leave the hospital unless a responsible adult is with you. We also cannot permit you to take a taxi or a bus home unless you're accompanied by an adult.
