Preparing for the birth of your baby
: Pre-register
By pre-registering, you will give us time to gather important information before you come to the hospital. This will make your admission into the hospital much easier and quicker. You can pre-register by mail, telephone or at the hospital.
To pre-register by telephone, please call
480.728.3698
. The best time to call is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To pre-register by mail, fill out a pre-admission registration form (click here for

or

) in this brochure and mail it, along with a copy of your insurance card as soon as possible. You can also fax the information to 480.728.3233.
To pre-register at the hospital, go to the OB Registration Office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. OB Registration is located on the first floor of Chandler Regional Medical Center inside the Family Birth Center. You may also pre-register in Outpatient Admitting located just inside the main entrance from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
: Make arrangements to pay your portion of the hospital bill.
Many insurance plans do not cover the entire hospital and/or doctor bill. Contact your insurance company to learn about your coverage. If your insurance does not cover your entire bill, please make arrangements with our business office to pay the remainder. We will help you arrange for a convenient way to pay your portion - through a pre-arranged payment plan or credit card payment. Please call 480.728.1080.
If you do not have insurance, we have options available to assist you. Please make payment arrangements by calling the Business Office at 480.728.3310 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For additional resources regarding payment, please call Financial Services at 480.728.3564.
: Choose a physician for your baby.
A pediatrician or family physician must see your newborn in the hospital. It is best to choose a doctor several months before your baby is due and to consult your obstetrician and insurance company in making this decision. Have your obstetrician assist you with the choice of a pediatrician, and ensure your chosen pediatrician is on your pre-natal record prior to pre-registration.
: Attend child birthing classes.
We recommend that you register early (before your fifth month) to attend classes during your seventh and eighth month of pregnancy because classes fill up quickly. To register for classes, please call the ResourceLink toll-free at 1.877.728.5414.
: Plan what to bring to the hospital.
Plan to bring baby clothes and an infant car seat. State law requires that infants be placed in a car seat for transport. Have the car seat installed in your car according to manufacturer instructions.
Don't forget toiletries, slippers and a robe. We will provide you with a gown. You can request toiletries at the hospital, but there will be a charge.
Do not bring valuables to the hospital. Items such as jewelry and money may be misplaced when you are taken from one area to another.
: Preparing for Discharge.
Customary discharge time is 11 a.m. Make your discharge plans prior to admission. Plan your ride home, supplies needed at home for yourself and baby and assistance at home. Your obstetrician will inform you of the anticipated date and time of discharge.
