Cardiovascular Research Center

Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center have partnered with one of the nation’s most renowned cardiovascular researchers to lead the research community in finding ways to restore function to the heart muscle after a major cardiac event.

We've joined forces with Nabil Dib, M.D., M.Sc., F.A.C.C., director of Cardiovascular Research for Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, to create the Cardiovascular Research Center. The Center’s goal is to develop a cardiovascular research program aimed at finding ways to potentially restore the health of patients who have no other available treatment options. Research conducted at the Center will advance the use of adult stem cells that may have the potential to restore the health of patients with severe heart disease.

Our program includes a variety of clinical trials that will explore many options for patients with heart disease. Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center are two of 33 hospitals within the CHW system to be involved in medical research. The Cardiovascular Research Center is currently developing programs for angiogenesis, myogenesis, gene expression for personalized medicine, the monitoring of progression/regression of atherosclerosis, and the percutaneous treatment of structural heart disease.

The Center is working to collaborate on clinical trials with research sites throughout the CHW system. CHW currently supports 18 internal Institutional Review Boards providing oversight for nearly 1,000 clinical trials across the system. CHW’s Human Research Protection Office provides for the regulatory and compliance oversight of all research conducted at CHW.
