The Orthopedics Unit at Chandler Regional Medical Center provides services and care for patients using both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma resulting from injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital conditions.
Our staff provides care to adolescents, adults and geriatric patients with, but not limited to, the following conditions:
- Arthritic conditions
- Back, neck and spine conditions
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Congenital deformities
- Degenerative joint conditions
- Fractures
- Hand and food conditions
- Ligament injuries
Orthopedic Class
This is a comprehensive program for patients undergoing total joint replacement. Being prepared, knowing what to expect and planning for recovery yields optimum results in joint replacement surgery for our patients and their caregivers. An hour long class taught by the staff in the Orthopedic Unit at Chandler Regional Medical Center covers topics such as:
- Pre-habilitation exercises to be completed three weeks prior to surgery, maximizing joint mobility and strength.
- Post-operative planning, including home safety preparation, medications and supplies, and healthy healing meal planning.
- Review of the surgical procedure. Post-surgical pain management and wound care. Rehabilitation equipment, goals and exercises.
- Resources such as advanced directive forms, Department of Transportation forms for the disabled, and local skilled nursing facilities.
- A tour of the Orthopedic Unit, including patient rooms, amenities and equipment.
